Read Genesis chapter 48 VERSE: Genesis 48:4–and said to me, ‘I am going to make you fruitful and increase your numbers. I will make you a community of peoples, and I will give this land as an everlasting possession to your descendants after you.’ TRUTH: Jacob was reminding his son Joseph of the promise that God had made to their family. When we understand and experience the blessing and promises of God, it is important to be sure we share that with those who are coming up behind us so that they, too, can understand and share in the blessing of God. If we don’t teach them, how will they…

Read Psalm chapter 58 VERSE: Psalm 58:3–Even from birth the wicked go astray; from the womb they are wayward, spreading lies. TRUTH: It’s hard to imagine a little baby being evil, but God indicates that we all have a sin nature and that it is with us from the womb. We are all in need of salvation, even from our earliest days. Do we teach and share the truths of Jesus, even with the children. They need to know, too. RESPONSE: Father, I will teach and share You word with the children I come into contact with. They are as much in need of You as an adult.

Read Psalm chapter 8 VERSE: Psalm 8:2–Through the praise of children and infants you have established a stronghold against your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger. TRUTH: God does so many things that seem counter-intuitive to us. In this verse, He talks about building a stronghold and silencing enemies based on the praise of children. We must be very careful to never discount what someone says or does for God as God can use anyone to bring praise and glory to Himself, even children. Do we recognize what a strong and powerful God we have who can use absolutely anyone who comes to Him, even children and infants?…

Read Matthew chapter 19 VERSE: Matthew 19:14–Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” TRUTH: Do we ever try to hinder people from coming to God? Have we ever looked around us at various people and just assumed that they wouldn’t want to know more about God or wouldn’t be interested in knowing more about God? That’s what was going on here; the disciples assumed that because they were children, they wouldn’t be interested or understand. Instead, Jesus indicated that they understood, probably better than the disciples themselves. When we see people, we must…

Read 3 John VERSE: 3 John 4–I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth. TRUTH: It is unknown whether John had any biological children, yet he had scores of spiritual children. The people that he led to Christ and disciple to grow in Christ were all his children. Just like with biological children, other people would come up to John and say, “I saw this child of yours doing this.” When John had great reports about his children, he felt pride and joy in knowing they were pleasing go. Do we have spiritual children? If not, why not? If we do, are…

Read 1 John chapter 5 VERSE: 1 John 5:19–We know that we are children of God, and that the whole world is under the control of the evil one. TRUTH: We are children of God, yet we are living in the enemy’s camp. It can be very easy to get complacent and to let down our guard, but that is when we will be attacked. Our whole world is under Satan’s control and if we do not guard ourselves, we will find ourselves falling into the trap of relying on the world and not on God. We are children of God. We must stay focused on our Father and on…

Read Proverbs chapter 29 VERSE: Proverbs 29:17–Discipline your children, and they will give you peace; they will bring you the delight you desire. TRUTH: At times, as parents, it can be difficult to discipline our kids. We want them to be happy and seeing them upset when they don’t get what they want can be hard. However, that is only for the moment. In the long term, providing rules and enforcing them gives children a solid base and foundation they can build on in order to grow into the kind and considerate people that God desires them to be. We must help train them for people are not naturally that…
