The Prophet of Redemption, Day 13 What is the reward for standing strong in Christ? Refining. Read Zechariah 13. As God explains here, he takes people and he weeds out those that aren’t following him. He moves them out. Then, those that are left, he takes those and refines them. It’s not an easy process, but a necessary one. Are we willing to obey him no matter what? When he starts to refine us, do we allow him, or do we fight against it? The result is that we are made more like Christ, but the process isn’t easy. Will we stay focused and endure?

A Prophet of Redemption, Day 12 Eventually, we will realize what we are doing. God knows that at some point we will come to an understanding of exactly how we have treated him. He explains this in Zechariah chapter 12. God knew that eventually the people would come to understand how they had treated him. This was true for the people of that time, but was also a foreshadowing of Jesus. There will come a day when the whole world will understand who Christ is and what his sacrifice is for. Do we understand that now and are we living that out today?

The Prophet of Redemption, Day 11 You get the leader you ask for. The people of Istael learn this difficult rule. Read Zechariah chapter 11. During this time the people have forsaken God. They have turned to false idols and to many other places to find their safety and sanctuary. As a result, God takes away their Godly leadership. He gets them a leader that is in line with what they’re been asking for. Unfortunately, that leader treats them terribly and allows evil things to happen to them. The Prophet of Redemption, Day 10 God brings us through our troubles. No matter what difficulties we face, God brings us through. Read Zechariah chapter 10. Just like the people that Zachariah was talking to, we go through difficult times and struggles and hardships. These people understood what it meant to walk through trials and through the sea and to see their enemies defeated. God is letting us know that he is going to be with us no matter what struggles and challenges we face. We can always trust in him to be with us and stay with us no matter what we are going through. The Prophet of Redemption, Day 9 God is our protector. He is our defender and the one who stands between us and the enemies. Read Zechariah chapter 9. Some days, I feel I have so many enemies. Some days I am my biggest enemy. God indicated to the people that he would place himself at the door and he would be the protector of His people. We don’t have to defend ourselves; God does that. We don’t have to try to stand up against oppressors; God does that. No matter what we are going through, God sees the evil in the world and he knows all that is going on.…

As we read these verses, and this verse specifically, we see that that God is the God of the miraculous. God takes situations that seem hopeless and down and depressing and does so much more than anything we could ever have conceived of. Personally, going through some challenging times and reading this verse today, I find it difficult to conceive that God would be able to still work and move. Yet, He is doing just that. The Prophet of Redemption, Day 7 How do we respond to God? Read Zechariah 7. As we see the people, we see their response to God. They refuse to pay attention and they stubbornly won’t listen. How do we respond to God? Are we willing to hear Him and repent?

The Prophet of Redemption, Day 6 God makes the impossible possible. I know that many people have made this statement and here we see Zechariah alluding to this exact idea in this verse. Read Zechariah 6. We can so often be focused only on what we can see or touch. We need that sensory proof to be able to believe. Yet, God is not limited by anything so mundane as our senses.
