The Coming King, Day 18 Peace. Christ came to bring peace. Read 2 Thessalonians 3:16. As we come to the 4th Sunday of advent, we are learning about peace. The peace of God can transcend all of our understanding and is only found through Jesus Christ. We have to allow God’s peace into our life. If we are not surrendered to the authority of Christ each and every day in our lives, we will not experience his peace. When we think about the peace of God, does our life represent that peace? Would others who look at our life characterize it as one of peace? Having the peace of God…

The Coming King, Day 17 Joy because of who God is and the fact of his ruling. Read Psalm 146:6-11. God is the ruler of all things and He is the overall authority. Because of that fact, we can have joy. Our joy is in the character of who God is and all that he does for us. Without him, we wouldn’t understand what joy is. Do we know God and understand him? Do we find joy in all that he does?

The Coming King, Day 16 Joy for all. As we read today, we see that the joy is to be for all people, not just a few people. Read Luke 2:10-11. As we look at the angel message to the shepherds, we see the emphasis on joy. This joy is not just for the shepherds, but it is for all people everywhere. Joy is for all people in all times. You and I have joy today just like the angel said we would 2000 years ago. All of this is because of the birth of Jesus. As we think about and prepare to celebrate the birth of Jesus, God reminds…

The Coming King, Day 15 Christ is coming again, restore our joy. Read Psalm 51. We have such amazing joy in the Lord. His presence in our life and the way he interacts with us creates amazing amounts of joy. However, sin separates us from that joy and fellowship with Christ. As we look today, we can understand that repentance is the path to restoration. That restoration includes not only our relationship with Christ, but also our joy. As the psalmist says, restore the joy of my salvation. Do we truly enjoy the joy that God provides? Are we restored in our salvation? As we celebrate this time of year…

The Coming King, Day 14 We have peace in Christ and he never causes us to stumble. Today we are looking at Matthew 11:2-11. Looking at peace this week while we anticipate and celebrate the coming king, this story may not be exactly what we think of when we think of peace. John the Baptist definitely did not feel peace in this moment. He questioned who Jesus was and whether or not all that he had believed was true. The Coming King, Day 13 Joy will overtake them. As we read through today’s verses on joy, we turn to Isaiah 35:10. Those who have come to Christ, retun to joy. They have gladness and joy overtake them. As we think about the coming King, we realize that all that Jesus came to bring us was the joy that he is. We don’t find joy outside of Christ. As we are looking forward to Christ’s second coming, we can realize that we have joy in all that Christ is.

The Coming King, Day 12 God’s coming brings joy. As we continue through this week studying about the joy of the Lord, the coming king, we read Isaiah 35:1-6. The prophet Isaiah knew that the coming king would bring joy. We can experience amazing joy understanding who God is and how God blesses us. God desires that we anticipate his coming and that we are looking forward to him. We can have such tremendous joy when we think about not just what the first coming of Jesus meant, but also what the second coming of Jesus will mean. As a result, knowing him creates such a sense of joy and who he is and in what he has done for us. When we think about our relationship with Christ, is the first thing we think of joy? The Coming King, Day 10 As we look one more day at the idea of faith, we look at the verse in Luke 3:4. We have faith in the coming king and we can celebrate that faith because there have been so many people and signs that God has provided that share with us the truth of the coming of Jesus Christ. Looking at 2 Peter 3:11-14, we see so many things that will happen upon the second coming of Christ. Yet, we are to be waiting for him in such a way that we are pointing people toward him.
